Karuizawa is a very famous mountain resort in Nagano prefecture - about 2 hours away from Tokyo (on a good day) and famous for once being the preferred mountain retreat for the foreign population of Tokyo. It is consistently cooler than Tokyo, with beautiful mountains and forests around. We decided it would be a good place to take our dog for her to experience forests - having only been in Hong Kong and Singapore before. We rented a chalet there and had a great time. I took along some of the Sigma DP Merrill compacts as I know they have great image quality. Here are some of the photos that I took.

The autumn colours were simply gorgeous. Especially now the sun was low in the sky. Sigma DP3 Merrill.

The morning was frosty and some of the leaves still had colour. Sigma DP3 Merrill.

Asamayama - like everywhere in Japan, there is a local volcano. Sigma DP2 Merrill.

Some leaves got stuck. Sigma DP2 Merrill.

We went through quite a lot of these in the wood burning stove. Sigma DP2 Merrill.
